Engineering is the act of making machines or making them better. For engineering, it is much like any other craft skill, and requires a few components to get things made, as well as tools to work with components.
Engineering works with all things mechanical, be it vehicles, radios, TVs, all the way up to weapons such as guns, and even robots.
==============================
How it works
==============================
~Creation~
Depending on what you are working on, you need a bench for the specified item. (Weapon bench for mechanical weapons, armor bench for mechanical armor, etc). To make an item, you need points in Create (Machines) and the appropriate bench. You then gather the necessary components and bring them to the bench, and declare you are making said item. The item is created if you have the appropriate amount of points in the Create (Machine) skill at it's base power, plus the addition of the current table you are using.
~Upgrading~
The same as creation, you take the required components for the item you are upgrading, take it to the corresponding bench of what you are upgrading, then add the benches upgrade points, plus the points you have in Create (Machine) skill. The components you use to upgrade whatever item you made is expended, and the item is upgraded.
~Repair~
To repair items, take it to the bench that it corresponds with, then use a number of components that the DM tells you to use to repair it. The components are expended, and depending on your Create (Machine) skill, you repair the machine x10 the number of your skill. To repair robots, it requires a robot repair kit, but can be done anywhere. Robot repair kits can be created at a Machine Item Creation bench, and are more powerful depending on how high your Create (Machine) skill is.
~Dismantle~
In case you are unable to find enough components to do the above, you can of coarse look for mechanical items that you can take back to the bench that it corresponds with and break it down. In doing so, you get components to upgrade or create a new item. If you dismantle a gun, you get gun components. If you dismantle a vehicle, you find vehicle components, so on and so forth. The more damaged the thing you are dismantling though, the less working components you will get in return.
------------------------------------
Skill increases
------------------------------------
Much like any other crafting, every point in Craft (Machine) of craft (engineering) gives an even better increase your work.
You can also take on other skills, such as gunsmithing to specialize more in guns and other ballistic weapons.
