For those who are wanting to add a little extra fire to your sword, or create portals to different areas, move things around with your mind or just mess with other people's minds, magic is the way to go. There are many different types of magic, which include elemental magic, magic over life and death, or even spirits themselves.
Magics require you to have at least 3 points in intelligence for direct casting, or 2 if you are given an item that uses spells for you. When using magic, you roll your intelligence stat plus the magi stat you are using.
Example- Zelda is casting a fireball attack, she has 4 points in intelligence and 3 in the magic school which lets her use a fireball, she ends up rolling 7 dice.
For each point in a type of magic school you have, you get 3 spells, and they become more powerful with each point in that magic school you have. The spells must be related to the school of magic you have. You can't very well raise re-dead if you don't have necromancy. Below is just a few examples of the different schools of magic there is.
Elemental magic- The very elements are at your disposal. Cause boulders to form, fire and lightning can be thrown from your fingertips, freeze or move water to your whim. At higher levels, you can even summon elemental beings to control as you please for a certain amount of time.
Life magic- Usually good for people who want to heal other living beings, up to the point of even resurrecting a person who is still able to be revived. You can even create other life forms with a strong enough life magic.
Material magic- You are able to change the characteristics of a non-living, material based object. Make swords like rubber, make rocks flow like water, turn something in to gold! At higher levels you are able to create material as though out of the ether.
Spirit magic- You are able to see spirits, interact with them, and at higher levels you can even instill them in objects or summon them to become your allies.
Necromancy- A dark, sometimes forbidden art of magic. Able to speak to those who died, see and hear the last thing they have seen. At higher levels, you are able to create re-dead and other undead abominations.
Spacial Magic- You are able to create portals, tears in space that help you travel faster. At higher levels, you can create pockets of sub-space to hide things, even people.
