Armor is good to have, it soaks damage and can keep you alive longer in a fight. There are different pieces of armor, made from different materials and can weigh from light to heavy depending on what the material is.
Armor can cover 7 different areas of the body, which are head, torso, arms, hands, legs, feet and waist. You can only wear one piece of armor for each body part.
Armor works by soaking damage, and as such have their own HP before they become broken and must be repaired. Damage can also become so severe to armor that at one point you have to simply get it replaced.
Below is the different types of armor.
--------------------------------------------------
Padded- Multiple layers of clothe sown together to become more durable. Not the strongest armor, but does not hinder movement.
Leather/hide- Made from the skin of animals, which slightly hinders your movement but gives slightly more defense, and in some cases even keep you warm.
(+1 to dexterity difficulty)
Chain- Next step up. More heavier, but more durable and takes more damage. Not the best against piercing weapons though.
(+2 to dexterity difficulty)
Plate- The top tier of armor, heavy as hell, but good for tanking damage. Useful against all weapon types.
(+3 to dexterity difficulty)
Here are some examples of armor
---------------------------------------------------
Padded coat- A coat to look stylish in, and also dampen the blow to certain attacks.
+3 defense, +1 dexterity difficulty
Steel Chest plate- A plate of metal that covers the chest to protect your chest from damage.
+10 defense, +3 dexterity difficulty
Steel gauntlets- A pair of gauntlets to protect the hands, wrist and forearms.
+5 defense, +3 dex difficulty
