Getting across land by foot takes time, and getting through the air or sea is even harder if you don't have the right kind of vehicles or mounts.
Across Hyrule (in all it's versions), you will come upon different ways to get around faster across Hyrule. There are many ways they can be moved- by being pulled by animal, being pushed along by wind, your own arm or leg power, or in some cases by technology such as engines run by coal, or even magic.
When dealing with animal mounts, an animal has their own speed which can be either faster or slower depending on what type of animal. You also have to keep in mind that animal mounts are living creatures, hence you can't push them too hard, you have to keep them fed, give them shelter, and on occasion- clean up after them.
When dealing with wind powered vehicles (Such as ships), you have to have the wind with you, meaning the direction the wind is going, that is the direction you go. How strong the wind is also determines how fast you go. You have to be careful with sails though, as sails can be ripped and torn, meaning they need repair.
Engine based vehicles are fast and strong, but they require fuel to move. This can include coal, gas, or even magic. If you don't have fuel, you're not going anyway. Also, engines must be repaired, requiring you to have craft ability if you wish to repair them yourself, and magic if they are magic based.
Below is some examples of mounts and vehicles
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Horse- A steed which can carry one to two medium people.
HP- 100
Max speed- 120 ft
Carrying capacity- 2 medium people, 300 pounds.
Boat- A boat made of wood and steel.
Engine- Wind powered
Carrying capacity- 10 medium people, 3,000 pounds
Whirlybird- A strange device with four whirling blade on top for air travel.
Engine- Magic powered
Carrying Capacity- 2 medium people, 500 pounds
