Backgrounds are what advantages your character have. There are numerous backgrounds that can help your character with things such as having contacts, allies, a regular income, or even more starting equipment.
Allies - Your characters friends who will help them in a pinch. They can take the form of several minor allies, a couple moderately powerful allies, or one super power ally, but that should be up to storyteller and player discretion.
1 Dot - You have one ally of little power or influence
2 Dots - 2 allies of little power and influence or one ally of moderate power and influence
3 Dots - 3 moderately influential allies or one ally who is quite powerful and quite influential
4 Dots - 2 allies who are quite powerful and quite influential or one who is extremely powerful and influential.
5 Dots - 2 allies of extreme power and influence or one of ungodly power and resources (This one is best left in the hands of the storyteller, just saying from personal experience).
Arsenal -This background gives your character an assortment of weapons they have free access to. Be careful though, you may end up getting regular visits from city guards.
1 Dot - You own more weapons than the usual person
2 Dots - You own a few more weapons
3 Dots - You own a number of two-handed weapons, bows/crossbows, and other such weapons.
4 Dots - You own Military grade weapons
5 Dots - You own a large number of weapons, even siege weapons.(Storytellers Discretion).
​Contacts - This entails who your character knows. They are not as ready to let you crash on the couch for the night( see the background Allies) but seem to be well connected themselves. So you can call them for various favors. Usually a contact is of a major importance such as the mayor, the police chief, a gang leader ETC. but you also have several minor contacts like a hot dog vendor, a bouncer, or even a school teacher.

3 Dots - 3 major contacts
4 Dots - 4 major contacts

Fame - This is how well your character is known. This can make hunting easier and make it harder for your enemies to make you just disappear without an investigation.
1 Dot - Your known by a select group of people(A singer at a local smalltime club)
2 Dots - Your known by the majority of a city's population
3 Dots - Known throughout an entire region
4 Dots - Known by all the land
5 Dots - Everyone at least knows your name

2 Dots - Well Connected
3 Dots - Position of Influence
4 Dots - Broad Personal Power
5 Dots - With a few lies and some double crossing you could start a war between all the races
Resources -This is your characters overall wealth. Their monthly allowance,and liquidation worth are in the table below.
1 Dot - Liquidated= 1,000 rupees, allowance of 500 a month
2 Dots - Liquidated= 8,000 rupees, allowance of 1200 a month
3 Dots - Liquidated= 50,000 rupees, allowance of 3000 a month
4 Dots - Liquidated= 500,000 rupees, allowance of 9000 a month
5 Dots - Liquidated= At least 5,000,000, allowance of 30000 a month
Retainers- Bodyguards. They can be sentient beings or animals.
